Reclaiming Our Language: How Klamath people are working to revitalize their language.
I received a nice shout out in this article about the Klamath people and their language for contributing contextual archive footage I had in my Rad Universe video library. As an ‘80s kid, I recorded lots of cartoons and other TV shows on VHS and have always been a huge fan of the commercial breaks. Archiving and repurposing these ads was the reason I started my YouTube channel 15 years ago. Every once in a while someone will reach out and ask if they can include one of my videos in another project. This one felt special since it was a news break on CBS from 1986 discussing the Klamath people’s tribal rights, something I had only accidentally preserved because I was taping Saturday morning cartoons. But now it exists in a new context with a follow up story 37 years later. I just love how things come to be like this and I proudly support our Native American communities.
